Dear CPA Australia

Sebenarnya saya ada versi lain untuk blog ini...tapi, banyak perkataan tak senonoh macam pukimak chee bai lanciau etc etc %$#$%#%^.....

Dear CPA Australia,

Not a frail qualification: Who says one size fits all?

I’ am writing to dispute the idea of lifting University qualification as a prerequisite to the CPA program. As for the goal of leveling the academic playing field with the elite CAs, I’m not pleased so far. The Chartered Accountants can be heard everywhere. We have far been engulfed in a war with the CAs mainly on quality-based theories. So why do we have to make it worse?

I simply cannot find any advantageous reasons for this change but I can name a few drawbacks this will bring and why obtaining a University degree after that is time well wasted and pointless. A professional qualification is all about rigor, preparedness and maturity of thought that a candidate should have. I do not have to tell you why a University degree will help them achieve this. I’m not talking Ivy League. Having a full systematic three year academic training will facilitate them with theoretical skills and to a certain extent practical skills for the employment race. The skills you possess from a tertiary education are rewarded adequately with a good career and a good professional qualification. It’s the Multiplier effect of higher education in this sense. It’s like a cycle that cannot be easily altered.

The logic of a professional qualification is where you relate what you’ve learnt along with relevant work experience to contribute to the body and to help it keep abreast with the latest developments. How can all this be done with raw levels of development and no practical familiarity? How would members competently come up with more business models/hypothesis and regulations/drawn in to economic affairs without a tertiary education and without work experience? Especially when our profession is under scrutiny all the time. It is as simple as that. This leaves me baffled.

If potential candidates are finding it difficult to gain entry into Universities, perhaps University admissions should be relaxed? If it’s too expensive, it’s a good investment.

Equipped with a tertiary education, there’ll be converging the right set of skills to be able to contribute to the body and to the members of the profession on the whole, and get rising confidence and respectability in academia as a body of standard and acquire a sense of breadth of the returns to the profession from its involvement. Taking people in merely on the basis of stiff universities entries and expensive tuition fees is not only discouraging and demotivating but might also be an excuse for ‘size’ protectionism and lose our competitive edge altogether.

If this leaves you worried, please rethink as a world class professional accounting body.

On the side, I’m willing to overlook the fairness that this puts the rest of us in the ‘old’ regime.

Music

But capacity is one-off. This is not celebrity ruins.
I was blocked for a few hours when a friend texted me.
On stage- There is a clear distance between you and the others .
I must admit I find you faintly strange but never cared much. Very confusing.
But hey, you are great.
If you could carry burdens.
Motown, Jackson 5, Ben and etc does not ring any bells.
Dirty Diana rings too many bells and brings back too many memories.
Like how Rajan and I performed ‘Beat It’ in Kindy.
Looks like it’s going to be a thriller anyway.
You could leave people in tears and heigh-ho .
This is impossible to ignore and impossible to not write.
You had mood. You had style.
Kareena, Angie and the little girl me:- Still remember how we were not allowed to go for concerts because of exams and mothers!!
I’m not writing about rest in peace, thanks for the memories, who's bad and etc…I’m writing about music.
Who am I talking about again?
Someone told me that NASA wasn’t responsible for the greatest moonwalk.
Who am I talking about again?

A dancing machine.

A lyrical gangster.

Come on
*Tense*
Say something .
It’s your turn.
This isn’t a worship shrine .
This is a ‘nobody else did that’ homage.
Dirty Diana Ahhhh….Dirty Dianaaa nahhhh

Music.
